The project consists of 3 pillars
Thorstein Veblen is one of the very last major economic figures to have significantly questioned the object of knowledge in economic inquiry from a philosophical materialist point of view
Tracing a potentially new turn in contemporary (continental) philosophy – after different preceding structuralist and post-structuralist variants – a (neo)mathematical turn
A re-presentational institutional framework centered on the notion of „Real Abstraction“ by Theodor W. Adorno and „Social Schematism“ by Alfred Sohn-Rethel, introducing a new transcendental regime of capitalist mode of production
Rethinking Institutions: Heterodox and Critical Perspectives
An international workshop
Ljubljana, 25th and 26th August, 2022
Institutions are ubiquitously present in today’s lives. They either represent a formal entity such as Parliament, Central Bank, Court of Justice or Medical hospital or are a generic term for marriage, money, law, religion, police, etc. Consequently, the conceptualization of institution spans over different disciplines such as sociology, economics, philosophy, psychoanalysis, political science or even mathematics. The workshop brings together prominent scholars from different fields to discuss critical aspects of contemporary institutional frameworks.
